A Working Concept
This rink will benefit Perham Hockey and a wide range of other users. The cost is estimated at $78 per square foot, or about $2.3 million total for the 28,600 sf building. Frankly you can't build a rink for much less, nor would you want to. This building is not fancy, but it is attractive, thoughtfully designed, and efficient to operate.
The look is modern and practical. Accent panels and complimentary colors provide interest on the all metal exterior, with a sloped canopy at the main entryway. In simple terms, this building is a great start and will last for decades. Although a final site has not been chosen, we envision a location close to town with ample parking.
This building is designed to accommodate one full-size sheet of ice, a locker room, concession stand, bleacher seating, men's and women's bathrooms, and a heated entryway. It will utilize high efficiency heating & cooling systems to control operating costs and provide a comfortable space.
Here is a top-down view of the proposed floor plan.
Hockey & Much More
This will benefit a wide range of users and activities including baseball, softball, tennis, trade shows, community gatherings, curling, free skating, figure skating, special events and entertainment. We think it is important that students, parents, fans, and the community at large benefit from this facility.
